"We loved everything about this performance. The amazing skill and technique of Ariel and Andrew opened our eyes to a whole new world of guitar playing. Each piece brought out a different emotion ranging from exquisite sadness to exciting and edge of your seat jubilation. Through all this there was a terrific rapport with the spellbound audience who were excited and thrilled with the performance. Would love to hear this remarkable duo again."

About this event:

Andrew Blanch and Ariel Nurhadi have captivated audiences with their energetic and stirring ensemble-work since forming as guitar duo in 2014.

They have been described as ‘two stunning young guitarists…virtuosic' (Sydney Arts Guide) and have been praised for their ‘dazzling guitar playing’ (ArtsHub). Their performances have taken them around Australia and New Zealand, and they also collaborate with Australia’s celebrated baritone Josè Carbò in a group named The Josè Carbò Trio.

Presented by the MGF, this livestream mini concert coincides with the release of their debut album entitled ‘Alchemy’ on ABC Classic.

Something of a ‘world-tour’, the duo will perform highlights from the album including delightful masterpieces from France, Spain, the USA, and Australia.

‘Alchemy’, the electrifying finale to Phillip Houghton’s ‘Three Duets’, takes the duo back to where it all began with the very first piece they learnt together.

Alongside a captivating performance by Andrew and Ariel, you can also partake in an interactive Q+A session as part of this exclusive CD launch.

Program

Intermezzo - Enrique Granados

La Vida Breve - Manuel de Falla

Clair de Lune - Claude Debussy

Pièces de Clavecin (1724) - Jean-Philippe Rameau

Three Duets - Phillip Houghton

Monte Carlo - Peter Madlem
