Boilermaker LIVESTREAM concert

IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTICE: Classical guitarists are the least contagious people to hang out with because they spend their entire life alone practicing in their room. Additionally, they are even less contagious when you watch them perform via a livestream!

March 21, 7pm AEDT

How much? You choose your donation level from $20 - $60.

Why so expensive? Can't I just watch music concerts on YouTube for free?

Unfortunately, due to the covid-19 outbreak, without live concert audiences and ticket sales, the musicians and event organisers can't get paid. This is a living wage for many, who now face the prospect of months without work. If you are in a position to help support the arts, paying for a unique live stream concert experience is one way you can help. This concert will be performed live without any replay available, using high quality audio streaming equipment and software.

About this concert:

Long time colleagues Ben Dix and Dan McKay join forces as Australia’s newest guitar duo for their first recitals for the Melbourne Guitar Festival’s 2020 Recital Series.

Known for their work within the Melbourne Guitar Quartet Ben and Dan are thrilled to bring an exciting program of works to Australian audiences spanning the baroque, late romantic and modern periods.

Major works by composers JS Bach and Keith Jarrett sit alongside the relatively unknown and recently discovered work of the Austrian Ferdinand Rebay. Written for the perhaps unlikely combination of baritone and standard classical guitars, Rebay’s Grosses Duo has proven to be a major discovery and surely destined to become a favourite for guitar enthusiasts everywhere.

Alongside this the duo performs Ulrich Stracke’s transcription of Bach/Busoni’s Chaconne BWV 1004 in D Minor, breathing new life into this monumental and virtuosic work, and will explore the delicate beauty of Keith Jarrett’s classic improvised work from Koln in 1975, recently arranged for the duo by Ben Dix.

Concert is 60mins without intermission
