  • Ive really enjoyed the festivals over the last few years and last week, I was blown away at the concert series seeing “Alchemy”
the playing was very impressive , the program was well thought out ,with a varied selection of less know pieces ,as well as some favourite tangos..
and to top it off , finished up with a cold pale ale and some blue cheese..
I feel so grateful to have MGF put on events like this in my own city and continue to support classical guitar

Thanks a lot Kristian! Really glad to hear you are enjoying our events, and the Dainton pale ale is a pretty nice way to cap off the evening!

  • Simply the BEST guitar festival in Australia in recent years! So much great quality in the concerts, a huge prize for international competition competitors and so many stalls of luthiers and products! Love the MGF!

  • Love the vibe of the MGF events, somewhere between a formal classical show and a rock concert. A warm audience and a cold beer, certainly what more could you want.

Thanks so much Ian! We try to make our concerts as accessible as possible to all 🙂 Hope to see you at many more!

  • You won’t find a warmer welcome anywhere than the annual Guitar Festival and Competition!! 🙂

I’ve been competing for a few years (starting in the inaugural year!) and absolutely love it! You will receive the warmest of welcome from everybody and all questions asked will be answered with courtesy and kindness.

There is a tremendous sense of camaraderie among the competitors, with a splash of healthy competition to ensure everyone plays their best!
The judging of all the sections (beginner to open) is absolutely top notch. I received a very detailed judges’ “report” afterwards which gave me insightful and constructive help on how I can improve my playing.

Furthermore, for those that aren’t competing, there are plenty of other amazing things to see and do. Luthier and retail displays, masterclasses that are free to attend, and a HUGE range of incredible and varied concerts. World class players from both Australia and overseas will delight and astound you with their sheer musicality, technical prowess and joy of performance.

Seriously, this event is NOT to be missed. As Molly says: “Do yourself a favour”. GO SEE IT!

    Thanks again
    Frances
